GABRIELA ROSADO

Yucatán is a land rich in culture, defined by both natural and architectural landscapes. While identities have mingled, the heritage endures. Mayan architecture speaks for itself, embodying an experience of dwelling and belonging. A house becomes an extension of the landscape itself, and the human being an ancestor whose pulse still beats in the present.

Roots—the origin from which we come, and to which we will always remain connected. Memories are the path toward who we will become, and the importance of never forgetting where we come from is what Gabriela Rosado Rivera conveys through her work. Inspired by this longing for her family’s origins, she has developed a collection that evokes the Yucatán of the past, the place that was once home to her grandparents and that remains, to this day, a home within her soul

ABOUT

Gabriela Rosado was born in Mexico City. She began her artistic career training as a classical dancer and later joined the international Theater Frederik company in Belgium as an actress-dancer, working professionally on tours throughout Mexico, the United States, Spain, and Israel.

In 1985, she redirected her training toward the visual arts and graduated in 1990 from the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado “La Esmeralda” of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico.

Since 1998, she has alternated periods living in Portugal and Spain with her family, residing in Barcelona, Cascais, and Madrid. Since then, she has developed her life and artistic practice between Mexico and Europe.

She has participated in 20 solo exhibitions and 62 group exhibitions in public and private spaces, art fairs, and museums across the United States, Switzerland, France, Monaco, Portugal, Spain, and Mexico.
